Laboratório de Astrofísica Extragaláctica

At the Valongo Observatory we created in 2013 the extragalactic LASEX / OV research group, officially registered in the Directory of CNPq Research Groups, with the aim of formalizing a community of researchers (students, postdoctoral students and professors) aiming for joint growth. Scientifically, the focus of our group is mainly observational with some of us working a bit on modelling and simulations. We work with a great diversity of techniques and wavelengths, comprising almost the entire range of the electromagnetic spectrum from the radio, passing through microwaves, infrared and optical, reaching up to ultraviolet and X-ray. Our research projects comprise a wide range of topics in Extragalactic Astrophysics and researchers in our group lead projects in some of the most competitive observatories in the world (eg, Keck in Hawaii, VLT / ESO and ALMA in Chile ).
